TOM: There’s nothing to eat in this house.
DAD: You’re right. We really must go shopping soon.
TOM: Soon? That’s no good. We need food now.
DAD: Don’t worry. Where’s the phone?
TOM: The phone? What do you want the phone for?
DAD: Wait and see. Hello? Is this Andy’s Chicken House? Yes, I’d like to order some chicken.
Can you get the door? Yes, I would like twelve …
DAN: Hey.
RUBY: Hi, Dan. Hi, Tom.
ELLIE: Hi, guys.
RUBY: Mm, something smells good. Is that for us?
DAN: Erm, well, …
ELLIE: I’m really hungry.
TOM: Well, it isn’t ready yet. We can wait in the living room.
ELLIE: No, no. We can wait in the kitchen. It’s OK.
RUBY: Yeah, we can watch you cook.
ELLIE: So when is dinner ready, Tom?
TOM: Soon.
RUBY: And who’s cooking it?
DAN: We are. Tom’s dad is just finishing it for us.
RUBY: Your dad’s here? Oh, he’s great. Come on, let’s go say ‘hi’.
TOM: Erm, that’s not a good idea.
RUBY: What? Why not? Come on, Ellie.
ELLIE: Hi, Mr Roberts.
DAD: Oh, hello, you two. How are you?
RUBY: We’re fine. How are you?
DAD: I’m wonderful. And … Oh, I’ll get that.
ELLIE: Hey, this looks ready now. Can we eat it?
DAN: Umm, err …
RUBY: Come on. Let’s get some plates.
ELLIE: Do you want some help?
RUBY: Yes, please.
ELLIE: Mm, this pizza looks so good.
DAN: Ruby, wait …
RUBY: Mmmm, really good. You’re right, Tom – you make great pizza.
TOM: But, Ruby, there’s cheese on the pizza, and you hate cheese!
RUBY: Well, yes, you’re right. I don’t like cheese very much. But on pizza – yum! And there isn’t much cheese on it. It’s just right!
ELLIE: Come on, boys. We can’t eat it all.
TOM: OK! Great!
DAN: Give me a slice!
RUBY: Delicious!
ELLIE: Thanks, guys.
DAD: Here we are! Who wants chicken?
ELLIE: Chicken, too?! Yum!
RUBY: Oh, I’d like a piece of chicken!
